Shortage of Ukuleles?
First, shortages of oil. Now, shortages of ukuleles! The Times reports music shops all over Great Britain are plagued by a shortage of ukuleles. Apparently, they were surprised by the current wave of popularity for our beloved 4-string friend spreading across the pond to Europe. Now, Chinese manufacturers cannot keep up with the demand.
Will this mean a worldwide shortage of inexpensive ukuleles? Will WalMart be forced to substitute by removing 2 strings from their guitars? Will Ukulele Aquisition Syndrome (UAS) suddenly lead to a run on credit thus driving up credit card rates?
Find out more by reading The Times’ article here. And also, if you have any unplayed ukes, sell them on eBay. I fear we’ll need another supply should the Chinese fold under the pressure.
