A special Ukulele Lady
Emily Russell, 74, of Lawrence, Kansas is my pick for Ukulele hero of the week. Emily teaches Ukulele at the Americana Music Academy teaching others about the origins of the ukulele. She also volunteers at several Senior Centers entertaining others in ukulele-led sing-a-longs.
“What I do with the ukulele, I consider an outreach project for Americana,” said Russell. An outreach program for seniors, teaching about the ukulele, spreading the joy of uke further… my kind of lady! Read all about Emily here in Lawrence Journal-World.

Hi Emily - wow- very inspirational !
I teach Grade 2 in Ottawa Canada and use my uke in the class all the time - what a great instrument - so full of potential - I spend many hours trying to adapt piano/recorder and classical guitar music to the uke - lots of fun. Keep up the great work -
