Ok.. maybe not completely about Ukulele but interesting none the less

cigar box guitar maker Bill “Blues Boy Jag” Jagitsch, a bluesman from North Little Rock, scrounges trash for a purpose. He makes musical instruments out of it. For example, he might turn vintage tins from thrift shops into guitars, banjos, or ukuleles.

Jagitsch says it all started a couple of years ago when he saw a photograph of a wooden cigar box guitar on the cover of Make magazine. Inside pages gave detailed instructions on how to make one of the instruments. The intrepid musician did some research on the curious guitar and found that they were commonly used in the 1800s, before the days of mass production when people made do with whatever items they had on hand.
